Frenic DJ & Producer

My music career has been a passionate pursuit for most of my life. My career as DJ Frenic started on the Drum and Bass scene in the late ’90s, fully involved in the scene during the genre’s heyday, playing gigs around the country. I started producing my own music and rediscovered my love of Hip Hop, beat making for Hip Hop crew Lost Project. We were signed to a label in the early 2000's, toured and supported acts like Afrika Bambaataa, Pharcyde, Beat Nuts, and Task Force. My solo instrumental beat-making brought international success and a series of tours of Greece and gigs at Fusion Festival Germany, Glastonbury Festival and Jazz Cafe London. I now run my own label This One Records, releasing my own and other artists’ music. I have also produced for artists such as Marc 7 of Jurassic 5, ASM, Jman & Skinny Man to name a few. Currently,

Frenic Teacher

I love teaching and I love music. I have been very lucky to have had a huge amount of experience in both areas. I moved to Bristol at the age of 27 and became a mature student. While studying Creative Music Technology at Bath Spa University I taught a DJ module part-time. After receiving a 2.1, I continued teaching music technology and found I had a skill for working with students.

I have taught music technology at FE level for 2 decades working with dBs Music Bristol among others.

During my time teaching, I have taught a huge range of students with different abilities and backgrounds. I have a great rapport with my students and feel very proud, as many have gone on to excellent music careers.

I am constantly teaching myself and learning new skills and techniques. I have a fascination for music technology and enjoy sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for learning.
